Vignette is pleased to announce Kasia Wozniak has won the Vignette Award 2013.

The Award attracted a huge number of entries but from very early on in the selection process Wozniak’s work stood out as something unique. Kasia Wozniak, 30, has a Fashion Photography MA from the London College of Fashion after being awarded the Harold Tillman scholarship. Her creative use of the traditional wet-plate process gained much praise from the judges.

Iconography 10, Kasia Wozniak.

From the series ‘Iconography’  Kasia Wozniak.

Susanna Brown, curator of photographs at the V & A:

‘In her wet plate collodion study, Kasia Wozniak uses a complex historic process to create a striking contemporary portrait. The shift in scale, the sitter’s far-away gaze and the imperfections on the surface of the image combine to produce a haunting and memorable piece.’

We asked Kasia how it felt to win the £1000 Award:

‘Its wonderful to be selected by such an amazing panel, I have been dreaming of having a studio space so I might put the prize money towards this and a new body of work.’

The Vignette award was a huge success and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the entrants and everyone who helped us promote it.

Well done to all our finalists whose work will be featured in the next issue of Vignette. Most of all congratulations to the Vignette Award 2013 winner, Kasia Wozniak.

The finalists’ exhibition will be on display at Photographique in Bristol from 12th October until 12th November 2013.
